We’ve collected for Portland Rescue Mission in past years and have been blown away by our patients’ generosity. You’ve inspired us to support this amazing organization again this year.

Founded in 1949, Portland Rescue Mission has a tireless commitment to breaking the cycle of homelessness, addiction and despair in the lives of hurting people in need. They offer offer emergency services of food and shelter as well as 24/7 restrooms, showers, clothing, mail service, referrals and community activities. Portland Rescue Mission’s Connect program is a three month homeless assistance program helping men and women transition to independent housing and employment. They also offer addiction recovery programs in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services. These programs are residential, and teach life skills and vocational training alongside addiction recovery support. By offering many different ways for those who are homeless or struggling to find purpose and new life, Portland Rescue Mission gets them off the streets and integrated back into our community in positive, productive ways.

It’s never too late to change. But sometimes we need a helping hand. Portland Rescue Mission is that, and you can be too! During the month of October, bring a donation from the following list to your appointment to help out a fellow Portlander in need.

Not only does Portland Rescue Mission provide resources to the homeless, they offer a variety of resources to the general public for education and interaction around homelessness, such as the handout below.
