To celebrate Pride Month, we’re excited to be supporting Wild Diversity during the month of June 2022. Wild Diversity is a nonprofit organization that aims to help create a personal connection to the outdoors for Black, Indigenous, all People of Color (BIPOC), and the LGBTQ+ communities through outdoor adventures and education. Their vision is to welcome and create a sense of belonging in the outdoors for these communities by hosting outdoor adventures, providing outdoor education, and facilitating community workshops.

Wild Diversity offers outdoor skill-building and adventures in an environment that feels safe and inclusive for historically marginalized groups, and helps them build community. Wild Diversity’s programs include Adventure Guide Development, Youth Ecology, Group Adventures, BIPOC Swimming Program, and Community Workshops. They also provide resources through a gear library and community partnerships. Their gear library facilitates adventures without the high cost of gear. Wild Diversity provides all the big items— tents, tarp tents, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and gear for cooking and eating— removing a significant barrier to entering the outdoor adventure world! They offer a wide range of activity levels for beginners as well as more advanced outdoor folks. From freediving to kayaking, backpacking and camping, Wild Diversity has something for everyone!

In addition to their adventures, Wild Diversity promotes awareness and action for conservation with monthly meetings to discuss conservation efforts and collaborate on a community-led vision that centers BIPOC/LGBTQ+ needs and ideas.

This beautiful place we call home should be a place that everyone feels a part of. The more that people can build a personal relationship with the natural world, the better chance we have of working together to combat climate change and be effective in conservation.
