The holidays may be over, but the spirit of giving continues on! This month we’re supporting Rose Haven: a Portland day shelter for women, children and gender non-conforming folks experiencing the trauma of abuse, loss of home and other disruptive life challenges. Rose Haven’s mission is to maintain a safe, respectful community while providing our guests with support and services to assist them in regaining stability in their lives.

The shelter was founded in 1997 when the founding members conducted a survey where they walked the streets of Portland and asked women what they needed. The overwhelming response was a safe place to go during the day, where they could take their children and access resources, and thus Rose Haven was born. Over 20 years later, they are still offering programs based on guests’ self-defined needs with accessible community resource center where women can meet physical and emotional needs, access social services and find community.

Rose Haven recognizes our diverse community and strives to make all feel welcome and safe. Their Executive Director, was recognized by The City of Portland for her commitment to Equity, Inclusion and Diversity; winning a 2017 Spirit of Portland Award for her work in this area.

The number of homeless women in Multnomah County has increased 16% since 2015, and the rate of women accessing emergency shelters has doubled, meaning places like Rose Haven are needed more than ever. Those in need who come to Rose Haven are offered healthy meals, showers, hygiene kits, clothing for themselves and their children, classes and group activities, as well as medical services.

This month join us in supporting Rose Haven and the women and children they serve by bringing in donations from the below list that are new or like-new and in season. Please note all children's clothing must be brand new. Due to the vast number of services Rose Haven provides, they accept a wide range of donations.
