September is Childhood Cancer and Alopecia Awareness month. To support a cause that will benefit children whose hair loss is a result of a medical illness, Equilibrium is proud to support the Angel Hair Foundation, a nonprofit whose financial support allows children to purchase an "angel hair system". This hair medical prothesis gives kids back their confidence, self-esteem, and ability to do daily activities, compete in sports, and sleep without fear of their hair slipping.
Kate loves puppies, art, trips to the toy store, dancing, and anything Disney!
Kate loved her Angel Hair immediately. Her Angel Hair provides a comfort. Kate can go to school, dance class, and perform on stage just like everybody else.
Angel Hair Foundation believes in:
Wearing a winter cap to cover her bald head, young Rubi was all smiles as she walked into the room to receive her Angel Hair. Her only request: that her new hair look just like Dora the Explorer!
Having no income guidelines for kids who apply for the "Angel Hair System"
Being a strong resource and support system for kids experiencing illness
A simple application process meant to be as stress-free as possible
Special ordering to match the fit and personality of the child in need
Making each system with 100% human hair, each strand individually tied to the cranial cap
Using quality, mesh materials making the cap breathable, comfortable, and allowing it to mold and fit securely to the recipient
Providing different hair styles, colors, and lengths for many choices
We believe in being a resource for all families facing these huge challenges, not filling out countless forms for approval. Our services are designed to cause no extra stress on the child—kids know exactly how much financial strain their parents are under—or on parents trying to give their child any comfort or advantage in fighting his/her illness.
This month we will be matching in office patient donations to Angel Hair Foundation. To donate directly (unmatched) and for more information on how to help kids with hair loss, including donating hair or attending the Angel Hair Foundation’s annual Shall We Dance event, click here.
