2019 is almost over and the holiday season is upon us! This time of year asks us to take on a child’s point of view to see wonder and awe in the world around us and maintain hope even in the dead of winter. We’re celebrating the children this month by collecting toy donations for Randall Children’s Hospital.
Randall Children's Hospital is part of the Legacy Health System - the largest local, nonprofit health care system serving Oregon and Southwest Washington. Randall Children’s offers family-centered care for babies, children and teens, blending the finest in medical services with family-friendly spaces and patient care procedures to reduce stress on patients and their families. Here, they try to help children feel comfortable and relaxed while they are in the hospital, by giving every child a toy when they are admitted. Kids who are hospitalized during the holidays or a birthday get an additional special toy, book or craft project to lift their spirits.
Toys are distributed by staff throughout the year for various celebrations, birthdays, holidays, their weekly BINGO game, and for motivation and celebrating successes while patients are receiving treatment. Donations will also be used to stock the playrooms and for toy bins for patients to use while they are admitted.
Join us this month in giving back, and brighten the holiday season for a sick child. The following list details the types of toys accepted and desired by Randall Children’s Hospital. If you are so moved, please bring an unwrapped toy to your next appointment for donation.
Sending you and yours best wishes for the holiday season!
